Description: Join us for an introductory workshop into the world of cinematography. We will tackle technical aspects such as exposure, aperture, and frame rate, as well as artistic elements such as camera angles, framing techniques, and the importance of lighting.
Bio: Sylvestre Guidi has more than 30 years of documentary film experience, filming from the top of the world—on the 2005 award-sweeping series Arctic Mission, to the bottom—on Anne Aghion’s Ice People in Antarctica. He has collaborated repeatedly with noted directors including Michka Saäl and Patricio Henriquez, and has worked on films for the National Film Board of Canada. Guidi spent ten years living in Mexico City as a cameraman and editor for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, covering South America and the Caribbean. A graduate in film from Concordia University in Montreal, Guidi also studied television production at the Université of Québec in Montréal. Guidi was nominated twice for best Cinematography, and won a Gémeaux award for best director of a comedy show. He also received the Congressional Medal Of Honor from the American Congress for his work in Antarctica.
