CUTV is looking for a researcher and presenter to join CUTV’s in house production Local 514. Local 514 is creating a podcast-style on camera news show covering issues in our city with Local 514 host and producer Savanna Craig.
Local 514 is CUTV’s first web series, which has branched out to cover off-campus issues, including politics, diaspora communities, social issues, climate and more.
The time commitment is 5 hours per week, for two months. This is a volunteer role with an honorarium offered, intended to help early-career journalists and students improve their skills with support of CUTV staff.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable researching topics to discuss in the show, prepare notes, and break down information on-camera with host Savanna Craig. Hosts will also live watch and react to videos and news stories, as well as provide media critique.
Savanna will help the person fulfilling this role to develop their on-camera personality, guide them with research and provide encouraging feedback to help improve their on screen and behind the scenes research skills.
Work entails:
-Researching topics to pitch and discuss on the show: current events, issues in Montreal ranging from politics, social movements, environment and more.
-Presenting on camera alongside the host to break down these issues to the viewer in a conversation-style format.
-Sourcing videos and articles for the media critique portion of the podcast
-Writing scripts to help organize the show and writing summaries of the show to promote on social media
